Uxolo and sister brands, Proximo and TXF, held an exclusive, in-depth analysis of the latest proprietary H1 2025 data in development, project and export finance during the World Bank Annual Meetings. Co-hosted with Morrison Foerster, this half-day intelligence event offered dealmakers the opportunity to sharpen their strategy, uncover new origination opportunities, and stay ahead of private capital mobilisation trends across all three industries.
Event Takeaways:
🔹 Broad Shift: Multilateral development banks (MDBs), DFIs, and related indstitutions are moving from being just providers of capital to becoming catalysts and mobilisers of private capital, especially pension and institutional money.
🔹 Blended Structures: There's a lot of innovation around structuring blended finance vehicles/SPVs, using first loss tranches, guarantees, and hybrid structures to crowd-in private investors (especially for risk mitigation).
                                🔹
Harmonisation of standards, impact frameworks, and guarantee pricing/mechanisms among DFIs/ECA/DFIs/MDBs is necessary to lower transaction costs and accelerate execution.
🔹 Although progress has been made, the share of private capital mobilised is still small compared to total needs. There are increasing “bright spots” (like innovative green housing securitisations or large Kenyan infrastructure funds), but private mobilisation isn't yet where it needs to be.
🔹 Development finance volumes are forecast to hit $291.9 billion for 2025, with $127.4 billion being closed in H1.
🔹 Infrastructure finance volumes are forecast to hit $882.2 billion for 2025, with with the year starting strong at $298 billion in H1.
🔹 Export finance volumes are forecast to hit $150.9 billion for 2025, reaching $63.2 billion in H1.
